Abraham Osei Badu has 18 years’ experience in the mining industry with expertise in crushing/milling & gravity, CIL/CIP, tailings dam and wastewater treatment plant operations. He is currently the Senior Manager – Processing at AngloGold Ashanti’s Iduapriem Mine. Prior to his current role, he was Senior Plant Metallurgist, Metallurgical Superintendent and Metallurgical Manager at the same mine. Abraham has also had experience working with AngloGold Ashanti’s Geita, Siguiri and Obuasi mines, contributing to various aspects of their operations.
Abraham has contributed immensely to Iduapriem Mine’s growth and success. His contribution includes the successful commissioning of various plant upgrades, encompassing the installation of new mills, gravity units and a crushing plant, the conversion of the plant from CIP to CIL, and tailings dam construction.
Abraham received The Best Engineer Award, Chemical/Mining Division from the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) in 2018. He has undertaken all the certification requirements of the Minerals Commission of Ghana and has his Plant/Met/Processing Manager Certificate of Competency from the Inspectorate Division of the Minerals Commission, Ghana.
He has a B.Sc. in Metallurgical/Materials Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology – Kumasi, and an M.Sc. in Mineral Engineering from The University of Mines and Technology – Tarkwa. He has also received certification as an Associate in Management Specializing in Management Practice from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and has a Diploma in Mill Lining Training, Sweden.
He is married with two boys and two girls and enjoys listening to gospel music and watching football/movies during his leisure time.
