George Anyema has over 26 years of experience in the public and private security industry, particularly in the intelligence field. He began his career as a field officer with the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) now (National Intelligence Bureau) and rose to become the Acting Divisional Commander for Tarkwa in 2003. He has worked in senior security management roles with several companies, like Chirano Gold Mines (Kinross Mining), and Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, a subsidiary of Diageo plc.

Before joining AngloGold Ashanti’s Iduapriem Mine in 2016 as the Senior Manager – Security, George was the Security Manager for Adamus Resource Limited, a mining company located at Nkroful.George proactively designed, implemented and reviewed the security management systems for various companies to ensure the effective monitoring and control of assets. His passion for success has seen him introduce new measures that have created the desired level of security alertness. He is credited with designing and rolling out Illegal Mining, Monitoring and Control Plans for the managing concessions of large-scale mining companies, championing VPSHR as well as contributing substantially to the deployment of public security at the various mining sites of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.

He holds a BA (Honours) in Sociology and History from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi; an MA in Governance, Law and Development (Institute of Development Studies, Cape Coast) and an MA in Conflict, Peace and Security from Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Accra. He is a lead implementer of ISO 18788 Security Operations Management Systems (SOMS). He has served as chairman of the Ghana Chamber of Mines’ Security Committee and as a member of the Council of the Ghana Chamber of Mines on three occasions. He is married with three children.
